Point vs Point Central

Point is a “stand-alone” single application that can be installed on one PC.  The loan files are saved to the C Drive of the PC.  To share a file between two versions of Point, a 3.2 Loan File may be exported from the first Point application and imported to a second application.    Point does have the ability to create Templates but much like the Loan Files, are specific to one PC and cannot easily be shared.  Because it’s harder to share data between PCs and Users, Point is generally better suited for a single Loan Originator that is okay exporting the file once per Loan to a Processor.

Point Central compliments the Point application by providing a Cloud-based back-end which Point connects to.  When a PC has an active internet connection, Point will connect to Point Central and all Loan Data will be saved inside of the Point Central Database hosted in a Data Center.  When licensing a Point Central Seat, the Loan Originator may install Point on up to three PCs owned by the LO. Loan Data, Templates and Print Groups may be synced between the copies of Point and with other Team Members that license a Point Central Seat on the Platform. Point Central’s main feature allows Point Data to be securely shared between Users and Teams.
